Playing with Pastels
Add a touch of whimsy to your spring or summer wedding by bedecking your special day in pretty pastel shades. Pastels are simultaneously glamorous and fun, elegant and edgy. Because of the muted, soft colours of pastel shades, it is possible to combine a number of different colours, textures and even designs without being overly garish or gaudy.
When admiring natural landscapes or rose gardens in full bloom, it’s clear that Mother Nature favours pastel combinations too, generously dishing out some great combinations and ideas. But, it’s not just about keeping your colours natural. Pastels go really well in a wedding with a vintage and French country feel, which remains a popular trend amongst engaged couples.
Pastel colours can be enhanced by putting them on a background colour of white or ivory, which will look classically beautiful and understated. If you prefer a touch of bling and glitz, opt for a sparkly gold or clean, shimmery silver with which to match the pastels.
Pastels can make paler complexions look a little insipid, particularly in photographs. So, before choosing this as your wedding theme colour, look at photographs of yourself (and your future spouse) in pastel shades and make sure that you don’t look sickly pale.
