The Story:
Rachel and Jeremy have travelled extensively all over the world. No wonder then that they immediately fell in love with Hawksmoor House, a rustic chic farm style guesthouse where the interiors mix antiques from generations gone by with modern hospitality. For their group of 30 guests we made use of the entire estate. On the most beautiful day September could have offered, the ceremony was held outside under two infamous Oak trees – and with the Cape Dutch Manor House as a backdrop. Rachel, dressed in a white creation by Benjamin Roberts with a matching feather marabou fitted shrug, appeared to float down the aisle short on the heels of an African Children’s choir. Pre-drinks followed on the patio behind the Manor House with a view to Table Mountain.
Dinner was set-up around one beautifully decorated table in the adjacent “Blue Barn”. Here, décor was kept to a striking minimum, utilizing antiques from the main house in conjunction with classic cut crystal glass and silverware. To add a vibrant, organic and youthful energy, the fresh apple green colour used in their invitations was pulled through to the menus, gift tags on the tables, as well as their cake. Stylish candelabra, modern lamps suspended from the thatch roof and contemporary chaise longue couches completed the picture. The day’s menu included an array of local delicatessen infused with Euro-Asian flavours – and guests made sure the night lasted as long as possible in an effort to capitalize on this once in a lifetime South African experience.
