Camps Bay Weddings

Camps Bay is one of Cape Town’s glitziest, most glamorous suburbs. It is perched on the shore of the blue ocean waters and boasts an impressive array of world-class hotels, restaurants, boutiques, cocktail bars and so much more. Apart from being a popular tourist destination and a hotspot for the young and young-at-heart after dark, Camps Bay is also ideal for that perfect wedding ceremony and reception.

Unlike many other wedding spots, Camps Bay offers a particularly wide choice. Garden weddings, beach weddings, formal weddings and vintage weddings will all find the perfect venue within this hub, no matter the style or décor requirements. In addition, Camps Bay is flanked by the Twelve Apostles Mountain Range, which is the back of Table Mountain, and the glorious turquoise waters of the sea. This means that the scenery and photographs will be breathtaking, regardless of the weather conditions. The other huge advantage, of course, is that Camps Bay is situated only minutes away from the city centre of Cape Town, making it optimally accessible. This does not only mean that your guests will find it easy and convenient to attend, but also that your photographers, caterers and decorators will not get lost or charge extra for long travelling distances.

For brides- and grooms-to-be that have dreamt of a stylish, yet relaxed, beach wedding, Camps Bay is perfect. The palm-lined beaches have that exciting Miami feel without ever detracting from their natural beauty. Barefoot grooms, seashell hairpieces and sand underfoot are the ingredients for the ultimate romantic beach wedding. If the weather becomes chilly or the guests want to carry on partying into the morning hours, there are plenty of clubs and bars within close proximity.

Traditional dinner and dance affairs are best enjoyed in one of the many hotels, restaurants or guest house venues. The added advantage is that the newlyweds can then stay at that venue overnight so that they do not need to rush away from the reception. The Bay Hotel, Twelve Apostles and Le Gouverneur are just some of these popular venues.

Some of the hotels and guesthouses also have beautiful gardens in which couples can indulge in a romantic garden wedding for their most treasured friends and family members to share. The scenery around them will provide much of the wedding “décorâ€.

For a slightly different twist, some couples have opted to say their wedding vows on the flat peak of Table Mountain, looking down on the beautiful Camps Bay and its pristine beaches.

Cape Town is a stunning and very popular tourist destination. As such, guests from other areas will enjoy sightseeing before or after your wedding. In addition, as a couple, you may choose to make this your honeymoon destination. Some of the most popular sights and attractions in the Mother City include:

  • Table Mountain
  • Robben Island
  • The Victoria & Alfred Waterfront
  • The Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens
  • The winelands of Stellenbosch, Paarl, Franschhoek and Somerset West
  • The Llandudno and Clifton beaches
  • The Bo-Kaap
  • District Six Museum
  • Hout Bay
  • Simon’s Town
  • Cape Point

There are several Christian churches in Camps Bay, including the Catholic Church, the Anglican Church, the Dutch Reformed Church, and the United Church.
